Agreement

These terms govern your use of thelongweekends.com (the "Site"), operated by an individual based in India ("we", "us"). By using the Site you accept them. If you do not, please stop using it — there is no account to close and nothing to cancel.

What the Site is

The Site is a free calculator. It takes published public-holiday dates, works out which combinations of weekends, holidays and leave days produce the longest unbroken breaks, and shows you the results. That is the entire service.

It is provided at no charge, with no account, and with no commitment that it will remain available. We may change, restrict or discontinue it at any time without notice.

Accuracy, and why you must check

This is the clause that matters, so it is not buried at the bottom. Holiday dates on this Site may be wrong or out of date. Several reasons, all of them ordinary:

• Many Indian festival dates depend on lunar observation and are confirmed only shortly beforehand.
• State governments issue and amend holiday notifications on their own schedules, sometimes weeks before the date.
• Employers are not obliged to follow the government list. Your office may observe different days, treat some as restricted or optional, or require particular days to be worked.
• Dates are transcribed by hand from gazette notifications, and transcription can introduce mistakes.

Before booking travel, applying for leave, or making any commitment you cannot reverse, verify every date against your employer's official holiday list and the relevant government notification. Treat this Site as a planning aid, never as the authority. If you find an incorrect date, please report it.

No professional advice

Nothing here is legal, employment, financial or travel advice. The Site does not know your leave entitlement, your contract, your company's leave policy or your employer's approval process, and its suggestions carry no implication that any leave request will be granted.

No warranty

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that it will be error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that it will work in every browser.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site or from reliance on anything it shows. That expressly includes the cost of travel bookings, cancellation or rescheduling charges, forfeited leave, lost pay, missed events, or any indirect or consequential loss.

The Site is free and operated by one individual. If any liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the Site, which is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Indian law.

Acceptable use

Use the Site for planning your own leave, or your team's. Please do not:

• attempt to disrupt or overload it, or probe it for vulnerabilities, or interfere with anyone else's use of it;
• scrape it at a volume that degrades service for others — the underlying holiday dates are public government data and better obtained from the gazette directly;
• republish its output as your own authoritative holiday calendar, or in a way that suggests we endorse or verify your version;
• use it for anything unlawful.

Intellectual property

The Site's design, written text, code and the way results are presented belong to us. Please do not copy them wholesale.

The holiday dates themselves are not ours. They are facts published in Indian government gazette notifications, we claim no ownership of them, and you are free to use those dates however you wish. Names of festivals, government departments and any company mentioned belong to their respective owners; their use here is descriptive and implies no affiliation or endorsement.

External links and third-party code

The Site links to government notifications and loads fonts and file-reading libraries from third-party networks, as described in the privacy policy. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability or their own terms.

Your own files

The office holiday optimizer processes files entirely within your browser; nothing is uploaded to us. You remain responsible for whether you are permitted to use a given document — if your company's holiday circular is confidential, that stays between you and your employer. Because the file never leaves your device, we cannot access it, store it or return it.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page records when they last changed, and continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised version. There is no mailing list, so the date is the notification.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or from your use of the Site.

Severability and contact
