Privacy policy
The short version: there are no accounts, no cookies and no analytics. One value is saved in your browser โ whether you prefer the dark theme โ and it never leaves your device.

Who this is
The Long Weekends is an independent project operated by an individual based in India ("we", "us"). It is not a registered company. You can reach us at hello@thelongweekends.com, which is also the address for any question about this policy.
What we do not collect
Stated plainly, because most of this policy is about absences rather than practices. We do not:
- ask you to create an account, or collect a name, phone number or address;
- set any cookie, for any purpose, including analytics or advertising;
- run analytics of any kind โ no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no privacy-friendly alternative either;
- show advertising, or embed any advertising or social media tracking pixel;
- have a mailing list, and so cannot add you to one;
- operate any server that receives your data โ the site is a set of static files, with no database and no backend to send anything to.
There is no form anywhere on this site. Nothing you type into the calculator or the office optimizer is transmitted, because there is nowhere for it to be transmitted to.
What is stored on your device
Exactly one item, in your browser's local storage โ not a cookie, so it is never attached to a network request and never sent to us or to anyone else:
themeโ the value"light"or"dark", written when you use the theme toggle. It exists so the site does not flash the wrong colour scheme on your next visit.
That is the whole list. Your region and work-week choices are deliberately not stored: they last for the page view and reset when you leave. To remove the stored theme, clear site data for this domain in your browser settings, or use private browsing, where nothing persists at all.
Your office holiday list stays with you
The office holiday optimizer accepts pasted text, PDFs and images of your company's holiday list. All of it โ reading the file, extracting dates, running the optimiser โ happens inside your browser. The file is never uploaded, never transmitted, and no copy of it reaches us or any third party.
We therefore have no ability to see your company's holidays, and no copy to hand over, lose, or be compelled to disclose. Closing the tab is all it takes to discard the data.
Third parties your browser contacts
We do not embed trackers, but the site does load resources from other people's servers. Any HTTP request necessarily reveals your IP address, browser and operating system, and the page you were on, to whoever serves it. This is the complete list:
- Google Fonts (
fonts.googleapis.com,fonts.gstatic.com) โ the two typefaces the site is set in. Loaded on every page. Google's handling of these requests is governed by its own privacy policy. - cdnjs (Cloudflare) โ the PDF reader used to open a holiday list. Loaded only on the office optimizer page.
- jsDelivr โ the text-recognition engine for scanned or image-based holiday lists, which also downloads its English language model the first time you run it. Loaded only on the office optimizer page.
None of these receive the contents of your holiday list. They serve code and fonts; the work is done locally. If you visit only the national calendar, Google Fonts is the sole third party involved.
The two libraries are requested at a fixed version and with a cryptographic fingerprint of the exact file we expect. If either server ever returned different code โ through compromise or simple re-publication โ your browser would refuse to run it rather than run it silently. That protects the code, not the connection: the requests above still happen, and still reveal what any HTTP request reveals.
Server logs
The static files are served by a hosting provider, which keeps standard access logs โ IP address, timestamp, requested URL, browser string โ for security and operational purposes. This is ordinary web-server behaviour, retained by the host under its own terms rather than at our request. We do not analyse those logs to build any profile of you.
If you email us
Writing to us means we hold your email address and whatever you chose to put in the message, in a mailbox, for as long as the correspondence is useful โ typically until a reported bug or wrong date is fixed. It is not added to any list and not used to contact you about anything other than your message. Please do not include sensitive personal information; a holiday date correction never needs any.
Children
The site is a holiday calculator and is not directed at children. Because it collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children either.
Your rights
Indian data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, gives you rights over personal data held about you โ access, correction and erasure among them. In practice the only personal data we can hold is an email you sent us, so a request to delete it is a request to delete that correspondence, and we will do so on request.
The theme value is under your control, not ours: it sits in your browser and you can clear it at any time without asking us.
Changes to this policy
If a script, font host or stored value is ever added to the site, this page gets updated in the same change, and the date at the top moves. There is no notification mechanism, because there is no mailing list โ the date is the record.
